We have started to work towards getting the Navigators Badge, requirements of which can be found here “navigators badge” following on from this we have asked our young people to; Draw a simple map of where you live, your meeting place or another area local to you. we hope to be able to share some examples soon.

We have noticed that the 1st DigitalScouts have been learning about how important contours are on maps by making (and eating) them. They made some toast and stuck the layers with some yummy chocolate spread! They have posted a great video of their session here https://digitalscouts.org.uk/scouts/session-4/ Its important to note that they say “Our sessions are designed to be as fun and safe as possible, to achieve this, adult supervision is recommended for all of our sessions“.

This week we also learned about map references and how to take them, and a way of remembering which order to quote the figures in was “You go along the passage before you go up the stairs!

Can you work out what is at OS Grid Ref: SK 553 809 ?

This might help.
